What is Writers Room best at right now?

Writers Room is designed primarily for novel-length fiction and narrative non-fiction. It excels at:

  • High-level structural analysis and developmental edits (pacing, arcs, narrative flow)
  • Detailed line-level suggestions (clarity, sentence structure, voice)
  • Character presence and emotional tracking across a full manuscript

You can use it for novellas and short stories—see Short Stories & Manuscript Types.

Do you train AI models on my manuscript?

No. Writers Room does not train models on your work. Your content remains your property. For more details, see the Fine Print section.

Can I recover a deleted chat?

No. Deleted chats cannot be recovered. Once you delete a chat, all messages and conversation history in that chat are permanently removed. If you have important content in a chat, make sure to copy it to your manuscript or notes before deleting. See Managing Chats for more details.

How do I report a bug or issue?

If something isn't working correctly, the editor will often detect this and offer to submit a bug report for you directly in the chat. You can also express frustration or ask to report an issue, and the editor will help you file a report.

When you submit a bug report, the editor automatically includes technical details about what went wrong, so you just need to describe what you were trying to do. See Chat Features for more details.
