Comments & Feedback
How do I know which paragraph a comment refers to?
Clicking a comment scrolls to the associated text and highlights it. We know this can feel ambiguous for long sections, and we are improving the:
- Inline highlight visibility
- Mapping between comment cards and text blocks
Why does feedback sometimes sound academic or harsh?
Inline feedback skews formal to ensure clarity. This means:
- It may critique intentional stylistic choices
- It may flag "clichés" even when they're purposeful
- It may suggest simplification even if you want a rich voice
If that happens:
- Use chat to ask for other suggestions: "This is a deliberate voice choice, can you suggest tweaks that keep the same tone?"
- Reject comments that don't fit your artistic goals
We're tuning the system to better respect intentional voice, genre expectations, and stylistic quirks.
Can I accept or reject a suggestion directly in the document?
Yes. For line edits:
- Accept to apply
- Reject to dismiss
- Modify before accepting
Large structural feedback in the chat can also be inserted by placing your cursor where you want to insert the text and clicking the "insert" button in the chat.
Why is there a limit to how many feedback types I can choose?
This keeps analyses focused and fast. Users have requested more flexible grouping—such as combining character, POV, and emotional checks—and we're exploring:
- Category-based toggles
- "Editing mode" presets
- Larger-but-intelligent combinations
For now, you can select up to 8 feedback types at a time. It's recommended that you select related feedback types, such as Character Development and Deepen POV, in the same request so that the system considers these together when providing feedback.
Can the feedback focus on different editing phases?
Yes—feedback types correlate to editing phases:
- Developmental: structure, pacing, arcs
- Line editing: sentence clarity, rhythm, dialogue polish
We're planning more explicit "Edit Mode" settings in the future (e.g., Developmental; Line Edit; Final Proof).
Can I give thumbs-up/thumbs-down feedback?
Yes, we review this data regularly to inform system updates and also feed it into the system so that it gets better over time.
