Why are some character details mixed up or incorrect?​

Occasionally, the system may:

  • Merge minor characters
  • Confuse similar antagonists
  • Hallucinate traits from context

This usually happens with sparse or ambiguous character appearances. You can manually edit the descriptions of characters and add/remove tags to correct issues. We're working on adding the ability to tag character roles and create characters manually.

Do you support a story bible or character reference?​

The Character Heatmap and Character Details views behave like a lightweight story bible. A full Story Bible feature (bios, world details, relationships, notes) is on our roadmap.

Will my character edits be preserved when reports are regenerated?​

Yes! When you regenerate story analysis reports, your character customizations are preserved:

  • Character descriptions you've edited will not be overwritten
  • Physical descriptions you've added or modified will be kept
  • Aliases you've added will be merged with any newly extracted aliases
  • Character images you've uploaded will not be replaced
  • Character roles you've set will be preserved

The system only updates character information when:

  • A new character is discovered in your manuscript
  • Empty fields are filled with initial extracted data
  • New aliases are found and merged with your existing ones

This means you can safely regenerate reports without losing your manual character edits. Your customizations take priority over automatically extracted data.
